Dr. Kate Lucas

Dr. Lucas grew up in the suburbs of Chicago.  After pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Illinois, she went on to Ross University, from which she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. She is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New York State Veterinary Association.

Dr. Lucas started her career with at Hoppenstedt Animal Hospital in Kingston and then at Cornwall Veterinary Hospital in Cornwall before starting her own practice. In May 2002, Dr. Lucas opened the Walker Valley Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Lucas and her husband, Master Sergeant Tracy Hornbeck, live locally and have two daughters at home and a son who lives in Florida. Dr. Lucas spends as much time as possible with her children and enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, gardening, and cross-country skiing.

Tracy Hornbeck grew up in the Pine Bush and Walker Valley area.  He has been a member of the New York Air National Guard since 1985.  Tracy works in the Safety Office for the 105th Maintainence Squadron at Stewart Newburgh AFB,  

Dr. Kates menagerie includes two dogs, two cats, and a handful of back yard chickens.

Dr. Kaisa Young

Dr. Kaisa Young grew up in Finland and then traveled around the world.  She lived several years in Africa, South East Asia, and Europe.  She received her bachelor's degree in neurobiology at University of Maine in 1993 and went on to graduate with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from University of Pennsylvania in 1997.

After graduating from Veterinary school, Dr. Young moved to Northern California, where she owned a small animal hospital for 17 years.  She returned to the East Coast 2016 to be closer to her ageing in laws.  Her husband grew up in the Hudson Valley before joining the military and most of his family still lives here.  They now are enjoying the Hudson Valley with their sighthounds and a little rascal of a terrier mix called Sammy.

Dr. Young enjoys hiking, skiing, riding horses, and gardening.
