Dr. Kate Lucas

Dr. Lucas grew up in the suburbs of Chicago.  After pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Illinois, she went on to Ross University, from which she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. She is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New York State Veterinary Association.

Dr. Lucas started her career with at Hoppenstedt Animal Hospital in Kingston and then at Cornwall Veterinary Hospital in Cornwall before starting her own practice. In May 2002, Dr. Lucas opened the Walker Valley Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Lucas and her husband, Master Sergeant Tracy Hornbeck, live locally and have two daughters at home and a son who lives in Florida. Dr. Lucas spends as much time as possible with her children and enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, gardening, and cross-country skiing.

Tracy Hornbeck grew up in the Pine Bush and Walker Valley area.  He has been a member of the New York Air National Guard since 1985.  Tracy works in the Safety Office for the 105th Maintainence Squadron at Stewart Newburgh AFB,  

Dr. Kates menagerie includes two dogs, two cats, and a handful of back yard chickens.


Dr. Barbara MacMullen

Dr. MacMullen is originally from Saugerties.  After earning her bachelor's degree from Cornell University, she lived in Tuscany for 7 years and attended the Veterinary College at the University of Pisa.  She finished her veterinary degree at Aranela University in Manila, Philippines.  She did post-graduate clinical studies at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in Columbia, and at the Animal Medical Center in NYC.

Dr. MacMullen started her career at a local emergency facility, and Hopewell Animal and Bird Hospital.  She has worked with local animal shelters including the UCSPCA and PCSPCA.  In 1999 she opened her own house-call practice called Pet's Reward.  Currently she splits her time between her house-call practice, the UCSPCA, and Walker Valley Vet where she sees appointments on Wednesdays and two Saturdays a month.

Dr. MacMullen lives in Kingston with her partner of over 20 years, Tim Dunton.  Tim is a bluestone craftsman specializing in landscape designs.  They have a Basset hound named Grace, 2 cats, and a ball python.
